What makes mentorship hard to design for?

Mentorship is deeply personal — the "right" match depends on industry, seniority, communication style, and even personality. Existing solutions were either too transactional (book a 30-min call) or too informal (find someone on LinkedIn). Neither created lasting, measurable relationships.

Reflection

What I'd Do Differently

I focused heavily on the mentee journey and not enough on mentor motivation. Mentors are the supply-side of a two-sided marketplace — without designing for their experience and incentives first, adoption would likely stall. In a V2, I'd design the mentor onboarding and dashboard before touching the discovery flow.
